You are not alone

Fi also know as Queen McBean is a valued member of the FND Moray community and a creative advocate for awareness of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). She is the writer and performer of the song “Not drunk, it's called FND”, a powerful piece based on her lived experience when she first got diagnosed with FND.

The song addresses common and often misunderstood symptoms of FND, including altered movement, speech difficulties, and changes in coordination, which are frequently misinterpreted by others. Through music, Fiona highlights the stigma and misconceptions faced by people living with invisible neurological conditions and offers an honest portrayal of the daily realities of FND.

“Not drunk, it's called FND” plays an important role in raising awareness, promoting understanding, and challenging assumptions about neurological illness. It also provides validation for others living with FND, many of whom recognise their own experiences reflected in the lyrics.

FND Moray is proud to support and highlight the work of members who use their voices and creativity to increase understanding of Functional Neurological Disorder. Fiona’s contribution demonstrates the power of lived experience in education, advocacy, and community connection.
